MOULDER/FORMING MACHINE

The moulder forms the heart of the manufacturing process. It is computer controlled via a touch screen.

This pulp moulding plant has been engineered by SGM/SHUANGJI and laid out to produce 6000 egg trays/hour or 300kg (661 lb.)/hr. In a 3 shift operation this system produces a maximum of 120,000 units/day or 7.2ton /day. This sections provides a brief overview of the system:

Pulping System

The 'pulper' is the core of the pulping system. It converts recycled paper into 'stock', a soup of 95-98% water and the balance fibers and perhaps some additives.

Moulder

The 'moulder' converts the stock into shaped objects (egg trays, egg cartons, or industrial packaging) of approximately 75% water and 25% fiber.

Molds

The quality of the mold is critical for the final product. We use a mold maker with specific expertise in making molds for pulp. The expertise in this area goes back to the start of the industrial revolution and remains globally significant.

Dryer

The 'Dryer' applies heat, reducing the water content to approximately 10%. We try our best to save your energy and cost.

Stacker

The 'Stacker' stacks the objects in preparation for transportation.

Dried product is conveyed to a pneumatic stacker, but we like to use electric stacker one per lane. The stackers count each bundle separately.

Support Equipment

The support system consists of a vacuum pump, compressor, compressed air and vacuum tanks, and a substantial amount of piping.

Various support items such to enable the process. The most important are the Compressor and Vacuum Pump.

Driving System

Our distinctive driving system defeat all rivals. We use servo motor and PLC to drive and control the rotary machine precisely.

Pulping system

The Pulping System mixes water and fiber. It cleans and dilutes the stock in preparation for moulding. Tanks are used to hold the Stock. The traditional input for the process is post-consumer recycled paper. However, the process can use a wide range of different fibers. This includes, paper, straw, and bamboo. SGM/SHUANGJI has a research project with the US Department of Agriculture to test alternative fibers. A typical recipe is:

Pulper

The pulper adds water to the raw paper. A rotor at the bottom of the pulper mechanically mixes water and paper. The result is 'Raw Stock', which consists of about 95% water.

Raw Stock Tank

The Raw Stock Tank is the holding tank for unrefined stock.

Vibrating Screen

The vibrating screen is used to remove impurities (staples, paperclips) etc. from the raw stock

Refined Stock Tank

Agitators

Each Stock Tank has agitators. These are rotors that gently stir the stock to keep the fibers in suspension.

Recycled Paper ~85%

Post consumer recycled paper.

Cardboard ~15%

Cardboard (or 'kraft') contains longer fibers.These provide extra strength to the product.

Additives

	Additives can be applied. These might be: Die to color the final product, Resin to make the final product more waterproof, Alumninum Sulphate to change the acidity of the mix and help other chemicals adhere to the fibers.
	Clients will be supplied with the specification for the 'civil works' (pouring of concrete) for these tanks. The client has to make local arrangements for the tanks to be poured prior to the commissioning of the system.
